Being negative is not really my style.  I try my best to be upbeat and positive even when it comes to products, restaurants, hotels, basically everything (my friends reading this may be thinking, liar she is a miserable bitch, but notice I included the word *try*).  Obviously this means there are a lot of things which I have tried but don’t mention on this blog.  You know what though, some things just aren’t good, so I have decided to do a post with products which have disappointed me.  This is not to say they are not good for others but just for me they didn’t hit the spot.  So full disclosure, here is the list….

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation

This foundation is meant for greasy skin (which I very much have) but my god did it dry mine out!  Every time I put it on my skin was visibly flacky by the end of the day.  On top of that in places it was red from where it was irritated and pretty much all over it was itchy with dryness.  All round my skin just hated it!  Sadly though, it doesn’t even stop there!  The pump for the foundation did not work very well either, que mess every time I put it on.  While this is not the end of the world, it was a faff opening the top of the bottle each time!  Also the colours were just not right.  I tried a few and none matched my skin colour, they were just a little bit odd.  All in all I will not be buying this product again and it has kind of put me off trying their other foundations too.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara

Obviously the first problem here is they sold to Estee Lauder (if you want more info on why this is an issue for me look here).  That aside, I actually just didn’t like the product.  The benefits of using it just did not live up to the hype or price mark.  Every time I use it I end up covered in mascara as it leaks all over the side when taking the wand out or putting it back in.  There is no way to scrape off the excess, trying only results in more mascara all over the place.  Too much mascara on the wand then results in super clumpy lashes.  To try and fix the clumped mascara I run the wand through again and the lashes get clumpier!!  I have never had this issue with a mascara before!  My final problem with this product is it does not come off, I know it is waterproof but it just takes it to a ridiculous level!!  No matter how hard I scrub the mascara doesn’t budge, which has caused me to have sore eyes at times.  In a nutshell, I am not a fan!

Barry M Flawless Matte Perfecting Powder

I love Barry M, but the  products for your face really disappoint.  The latest for me was the Perfecting Powder.  My first issue is it has a bit of a strange colour.  Normally powders blend in easily but this one is pretty orange.  Perhaps as a result of this poor colour match it always seems to look caked whether I put on a thin or thick layer.  And the last issue is it just doesn’t last the day.  By lunchtime it is all but gone.  It is cheap and I guess you get what you pay for!

Neal’s Yard Peppermint and Lime Roll On Deodorant

Much as I love their skincare range the deodorant was really poor for me.  From the second day as soon as I applied it I felt uncomfortable with how I smelt.  I think this smell first thing in the morning was due to the deodorant not being good enough the day before.  There really is nothing worse.  By lunchtime I was just straight up smelly every time I used it.  Since going vegan I am yet to find a deodorant I love (maybe the problem is me!!) but this I have to say was just the worst.  After using it for a couple of weeks to really give it a shot safe to say I will not ever be using it again.

Lush Tooth Fairy Tooth Powder

Despite loving their bath bombs I have tried a number of the Lush tooth products and am really not a very big fan.  This however was just terrible.  I did not feel like I had cleaned my teeth at all after using it and even worse, it actually kind of hurt my mouth and teeth.  It was a burning sensation I would expect to feel from an acid (although obviously not *that* painful!!).  I don’t know if this is some sort of allergy on my part or if the tooth powder just isn’t really great for your teeth.  Either way after three (painful) uses I stopped.  It may be good for others but for me it has not ticked any of the boxes, my teeth were not clean and my mouth was pretty sore.

I feel a little uncomfortable posting this negative review as I want to love all cruelty free brands but I do hope you have found it useful.  Has anyone else found a product really disappointing, in particular any of the above, I would love to know if you felt the same!
