Since turning cruelty free I have tried some really great products but I have also tried some which, much as I hate to slag off anything vegan or cruelty free, have just been terrible!  I also find some companies have one thing which is amazing but then is really let down by the rest of the range, Barry M is an example of this, love the nail varnish and mascara but the rest is just a bit too cheap for me and my skin.  As most of the cruelty free brands are generally not those which you will have used before I thought it may be helpful to create a list of the brands that, so far, I have found to be the best.  I have told you where you can get it too, so hope my ramblings are of use!  This list is not all the cruelty free brands out there but are ones which I have tried and am happy to recommend.  There are plenty other brands for me still to try so look out for another post on this in a few months!

Barry M

If you are on a tight budget you really cant go wrong with Barry M.  Sure I am not a huge fan of their foundation or pressed powder, but I have bad skin and need the expensive stuff!  Try it for yourself and see how you go, plenty of people love their cheap staples.  Another big plus is you can get these products anywhere, even the supermarket.

Best products: Nail varnish and Mascara

Vegan: Mostly, all vegan products marked with a vegan sign

Another cheaper and easily accessible brand.  It can be bought on the high street and has a big range.  I have tried a lot of their stuff now and have not found anything I don’t like.

Best products: Primer, Foundation Drops and Mascara

Vegan: Mostly, the full list of what is vegan at the end of this page, they send you it when you enquire which is very helpful!

This make up is expensive, there is no denying it, but some people swear by it.  Sadly the foundation has not been good for my skin, but again for many it is!  The eyeshadow is lovely and really high quality.  They have a lot of products I would like to try, but as they are so expensive it may take a while for me to get to it!!  This brand is stocked in departments stores so relatively easy to find on the high street.

Best products: Eyeshadow

Vegan: Mostly, marked on the packet

I love that these guys do something a bit different, they do some really crazy colours and big eyelashes!  I have only tried a few products but am loving what I have especially nail varnish and eyeshadow.  Again they are really high quality, they feel luxurious to use!  I have found lots of their products in TK Maxx, so even better when you get them cheaper!  Otherwise, I think this is an online only brand, I have certainly never seen it anywhere else.

Best products: Nail varnish and Eyeshadow

Vegan: Mostly

Lily Lolo

Great, relatively cheap brand.  They are also free of parabens, synthetic perfumes and dyes, so if you want to buy from a brand which is vegan, cruelty free and better for your skin, this is it!  Only online but they do samples of some of their products which is really helpful.

Highlighted products: Mascara and Blusher

Vegan: Mostly, a list of products which are not vegan is below

Sara Hill

I really love this stuff, the primer and foundation are perfect for my skin.  They have a full range which is often compared to MAC on cruelty free forums.  I will be getting more Sara Hill products in the near future, very excited to try them!  Again this is only available online, but I got samples of the foundation to get the right colour.

Highlighted products: Foundation and Primer

Vegan: The only non vegan products are little pop and lip/eyeliners as they contain a small amount of beeswax

Thanks for reading and if you have any make up brands you rate, let me know in the comments below!
